minimal wave: both a genre of underground diy electronic music from north america and europe in the late 1970s and 80s, and the name of the label devoted to unearthing these recordings. the minimal wave tapes is the first official anthology of minimal wave music from this label. most of the songs were originally released on limited edition cassettes or vinyl by the artists themselves, and only a handful of people knew about them. they ve been remastered from their analog source tapes and compiled here by minimal waves veronica vasicka and stones throws peanut butter wolf.

the heels of love, the new milan based duo born from the joint between michele tessadri (fratelli riviera, bearfunk) and sapo (member of the love supremeproject on tirk) >two disco reprimands with an unhealthy penchant for slap bass, synths and vintage drum machines< has made a lot of noise lately with just a couple of works. after debuting here on mom with a huge remix that made its way up to beats in space and tsugis 2009 best of compilation they have had the first official release on david griffiths (the man behind jisco music) new label, under the shade. this one has sent them right into the chart of almost every known dj of the scene. >quiet please< is a slow, 110 bpm groovy piece of psychedelic disco that has its force in the balanced mix of the wobbling analog bassline, the p-funk guitars and the old flavouredsynth riffs reminescent of 1992 chicago house.

wurst are going from strength to strength with another killer 12inch, this time from ulysses. latin combo features pretty much no latin elements on first listen although we think we can hear a few claps and percussion samples from a charanga 76 cover of chic that might be influencing the title. both tracks feature dubbed out drums and a warm analog feel throughout making for a pleasant listen and two solid club tracks at the same time.

1st amenti release!!! muffin luv features a monstrous analog bassline, coupled with classic disco refrains. walker i just features shuffled drum programming, thick bass & the occasional quirky vocal snippets. chicken tandoori is a great marriage of rich analog chicago bass (think the percolator) and succulent vocal samples

ryo murakami whos recent releases include dessous and moriss audio and is known for leading the younger generation artists announces his newest release on his very own label panrecords. the promo is already being heavily played on the jus-ed radio show. the tunes of the analog drum machine coming from the bottom of the deep seas along with our friend amrs quiet yet crazy voice sampling echoes on a1s lost it and a deep arrangement is added to the coupling track dive a elevate. the fat analog synthesizer by dublins lerosal that resembles chicago and detroit sounds are remixed with the rhythm machines low range sounds. the sense of flow from beginning to end is at 90.5. the complete 4 songs are sent from tokyo out to the world scene

a project from spain that was delayed cause we simply lost contact with the artists at the point of signing. the duo seemed to have strong bonds with a spanish clique of the notorious central american gang ms-13. sadly enough, the main producer is in lock-down for a crime committed in the us and therefor we never had the chance to finish this project. it will now be released (finally) as part of the limited when insanity slips in series with a handnumbered screened printed sleeve. the music is pure electronic chaos (think ultradyne). pure analog terror from a project that already ended before even getting signed.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.

after recent successes on his other label, donnacha costello returns to his look long imprint with the storming one sided monster that is ten thousand hours. to begin, an ominous, growling, analog siren calls out from costellos roland sh-101, alerting us that our presence is required on the dancefloor before rattling, shuffling hi-hats mark out the groove and we head out on an ecstatic 7 minute analogue journey through a universe inhabited by wispy shadows of s-express, 808 state, mathew jonson and costellos own classic colorseries sound. words dont do justice to this one. simply drop the needle on the record and escape to an alternate universe on a magic carpet of analog synths and drum machines. ten thousand hours appears as a very limited one sided vinyl edition and wont be re-pressed. dont sleep

is kerowacks first follow-up single their acclaimed ep, the first ep. a is a heavy drum and electro synth four. it is partly a sentimental track, communing with one hand with the 90s warehouse techno revival, yet with the other hand, forging forward in the evolution of electrohaus, sacrificing nothing and tripping no cliche. fc kahuna lead the back-side of this release with a live rock acid disco reinterpretation, conjuring up an entirely different waking dream, untamed yet methodical, acoustic, analog, whacked out yet perfectly in control as fc kahuna always is.

sychi sychi is the second and exclusive release of denkbar,a new and promising russian label managed by alex danilov and michel misha! the little owls attack and the russians strike again… analog passages, strings and flutes were very harmoniously entered in this hypnotizing atmosphere.
the first one delivered by b.a.d is so groovy, perfect for dancing… it features conversations between two spaniards and this emphasized the atmosphere of this track.
>de color verde< is the second track and was made by one of the labelboss, alex danilov! it offers a warm climate, a pleasant sound of a«short» guitar and sensual piano sequences.
with >weg afro<, the third track by michel, the other part of denkbar, you can imagine the shaman dancing near the fire and a church full of people of african origins! a lot of basses and percussions – giving you an excellent combination.

nice price deal !!! debox welcomes another exceptional artist. 24 year old talent christian schwarz delivers a debut that easily matches the production standard of guys that have been in the business for years and clearly stands out from the monthly pile of same sounding tracks. before you told me, which features christians own vocals comes along with fat analog synth sounds, dark atmosphere and a detail orientation and emotional depth which reminds of trentemoeller or swyazak. the massive remix package features versions by spanish dj legend memo and the london based producer duo dzeta n basile. memo combines the original with pumping house grooves and a spoonful of retro coolness to an extremely danceable mixture while dzeta n basile fragmentize the catchy vocals, creating a hypnotic, tribal infected minimal track which will surely have the same effect on the dancefloor. last but not least sternenfänger (starcatcher ) takes the listener on a journey through a strange soundgarden, following the beat along beautifully distorted structures and experimental contrasts.

chicagos gatekeeper have been key in helming a new wave of gothic, analog fuelled disco gaining inspiration from their home town wax trax heroes and the legendary film scores of slasher/horror films from the likes of goblin, john carpenter and claudio simonelli.

nice price deal !!! following up on her unanimously acclaimed debut album may be later (vakant), chilean artist and berlin transplant alejandra iglesias conceived anemik entirely for the wagon repair label after being approached by label head mathew jonson. a musing on femininity and the fine line between romance and delirium, anemik transcends borders in its range of influence and reflects consciousness in the fluidity and tangibly live origins of its creation. recorded using analog equipment and acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on voice, there is a wisdom and maturity to this work that suggests an artist in the prime of her life.

the first release by m_rec ltd is by the dutch man jeroen search. couldn t start any better to show the quality of sound of this label. 4 pure analog tracks that go from a hood style to mills but with a search personality. simply an artist!

after a some big remixes and a nice original outing this summer on get physical, catz n dogz return back to their home label. this time the guys team up with their friend, the hot producer, pol_on while also featuring the candid vocals of fellow mothershipper , monty luke. this is a great single to check out as we wait for their new 2nd album for mothership due out in the spring of 2010. the sexy analog sound of the original mix will fit well within any proper house set, but i particularly prefer the drama queen mix which breaks into a beautiful melodic section 3 quarters of the way through. groovy.

high on the heels of their brand new album >24/7< gus gus serve us the second single outtake. >thin ice< is undeniably the key song on the album and therfore screamed for being revisited for dancefloor purposes. the a-side belongs entirely to the hamburg based trio wareika, which is not only sharing the tourbus as support act with our icelandic heroes on their extensive >tanz mit mir< tour but also raised some eyebrows with excellent releases onlabels like tartelet, connaisseur, liebe/detail or eskimo. their take on >thin ice< is a wonderful, epic journey into contemporary deephouse - approaching the original from its intimate, emotional side before taking a total different turn in the last third of the track. we have no clue where this angelic voice transcended from but for sure it gives us gigantic goosebumps. on the flip, matteo esse and sant aka analog people in a digital world deliver proof that their brilliant remake of st germain, >rose rouge< was not just a one-hit-wonder. it was and still is hammered by the top league djs like pete tong, luciano, michael mayer and many more. they know exactly which buttons to push in order to make this worlds dancefloors happy.

kaines mix keeps things closer to the original, emphasizing the pop punch-lines with staccato beeps and a chunky beat. positive vibes here from a bright young uk producer.
finally, space-disco maestros emperor machine turn in another epic roller complete with a brilliant analog synth jam finale.

nice price deal !!! solotempos new ep basks shamelessly in catchy harmonies, indulges in bassdrums and wallows in the beauty of analog sounds processed with precision. >new ears< is firmly rooted on the dancefloor. on this particular dancefloor you re plunged into descreetly arranged, hypnotising house and minimal tracks, which don t simply sit on their beat, but gracefully summersault again and again, creating those unique moments of eternity. fittingly, solotempos sounds should work best on springy forest soil, at around four or five in the morning when dawn breaks and the sun rises.
